Living with marble

Care for your
chosen surface.

Use mild soap or a stone-safe cleaner. Clean spills promptly and use cutting boards and coasters. Acids such as lemon juice and vinegar can etch the finish; an impregnating sealer does not prevent etching.

Read the care guide
Can marble be used in a kitchen?

Yes. MSI lists Calacatta for countertops and islands. Choose it with an understanding that acids, stains and scratches require attention.

Does sealing stop marble from etching?

No. Impregnating sealers help resist staining, but they do not prevent the reaction between marble and acidic liquids.

Should I choose honed or polished marble?

Both finishes are options for Calacatta. Etch marks can be more noticeable on a polished surface, so compare samples and discuss care before deciding.
